What is a liquid facelift?

A liquid facelift is a cosmetic procedure that uses Botox and dermal fillers to improve the appearance of your skin. Botox and fillers are both injectables, but they serve different purposes:

Botox

Botox is an aesthetic neuromodulator. When injected into specific areas — like the forehead or between the eyebrows — it blocks nerve signals from reaching the muscles in your face. This allows your muscles to relax, causing wrinkles and fine lines to smooth out for months at a time.

Dermal fillers

Dermal fillers contain collagen and elastin, proteins that make your skin plump and youthful. As the name suggests, fillers help fill in areas experiencing lost volume, such as the cheeks, jowls, and lips.

Let us know if you take prescription medication or have an underlying medical condition, like diabetes. These issues won’t necessarily prevent you from receiving treatment, but they can increase your risk of complications, so we must be aware of them.

After you undergo a liquid facelift, we monitor your results at regular checkups and provide maintenance injections as needed.

What to expect during a liquid facelift

A liquid facelift takes 30-60 minutes to complete.

First, we ask about your treatment goals and the skin issues you’d like to address. Then, we examine your skin and take photographs to develop a personalized treatment plan.

Once we’ve finalized the plan, we mark the injection sites on your skin and apply a topical anesthetic to ensure your comfort. After the anesthetic sets in, we administer a series of Botox and dermal filler injections. The number of injections you get depends on your treatment goals. 

When your liquid facelift is complete, we provide care instructions. In the hours following treatment, it’s normal to experience mild bruising, swelling, and redness at each injection site. Avoid lying down for at least two hours and don’t rub your skin, as it can cause the Botox or fillers to move into unwanted areas.

Most people return to work and other activities immediately after treatment, but avoid strenuous exercise for at least 24 hours.
